About the course
This course, combined with Biology I, is equivalent to one full year of college Biology and will familiarize students with solid College Level content. Prerequisites to this academically rigorous course are: Biology I.
The first module provides an organizational overview of the human body and homeostasis, as well as a general review of concepts such as: cell structure, protein synthesis, and cellular mitosis. Subsequent modules study: histology (study of tissues), integumentary and skeletal systems, skeletal system histology and movement, muscular system histology and physiology, nervous system, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, lymphatic system, digestive system, respiratory system, urinary and reproductive systems.
This course is recommended for (ADVANCED 10th-grade students** with teacher approval) OR 11th-grade and 12th grade students. We will be dissecting a COW HEART, COW EYE, and FETAL PIG.
***Other possible dissections may include: (a sheep pluck, and sheep liver) if time permits with some of our class fees purchased by the teacher.
