Biology
This class is typically a 9th or 10th grade high school class with heavy amounts of vocabulary. The students will gain an appreciation of the world around them as they discover the design of the simplest living things. This biology course covers the science and chemistry of life, ecology, cell structure and function, cellular energy, DNA, genetics, evolution, prokaryotes and viruses, protists and fungi, plant diversity and reproduction, plant structure and function, and the biology of various types of animals. We will be dissecting 4 specimens during the second semester of this class. Dissections include Earthworm, Crayfish, Perch, and Frog

Biology II: Anatomy and Physiology ( Advanced Biology)
"This course, combined with Biology I, is equivalent to one full year of college Biology and will familiarize students with solid College Level content. Prerequisites to this academically rigorous course are: Biology I.
The first module provides an organizational overview of the human body and homeostasis, as well as a general review of concepts such as: cell structure, protein synthesis, and cellular mitosis. Foundations of Personal Finance
Curriculum by Ramsey Solutions known for Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Students will learn the money skills they’ll use now and for the rest of their lives so they’ll have a solid foundation when they’re out on their own. This course trades boring formulas and financial theories for time-tested principles, real-life applications and humor (yes, personal finance can be fun!). Topics include how to budget, save, avoid debt, invest, be a wise consumer and much more! Foundations includes engaging videos with finance experts who teach each lesson, reading material with standards-driven content, and educational information designed to meet various learning needs. This class will teach the fundamental skills of Graphic Design. Students will learn about fonts, layering, colors, images, how to use beginner graphic design programs and much more. This class does not require any special design program as the student will learn to use a website based program to design invitations, flyers, logos and much more. Photoshop is introduced for one class. They will be required to have their own personal computer that can connect to the internet, a iPad will not work but a chrome book is acceptable.

Yearbook
In this course, students will gain skills in the following areas: page design, publishing techniques, copywriting, editing, photography, graphic design, teamwork, and leadership skills. Students are responsible for producing their own yearbook pages which involves designing their own pages, taking the photographs for their pages, and writing all copy on their pages.
This class requires a full year commitment and is considered a pass/fail class for high school students. As long as your child participates and comes with a teachable spirit they should have no trouble passing. The class fee includes one free yearbook for each student who participates in both semesters of the school year.
