We will be using Complete Spanish Step-by-Step by Barbara Bregstein. This book provides coverage from A1 to B1 levels for CEFR. Chapters 1-9 will be covered over the two semesters of Spanish 1 at the equivalent level of A1. Chapters 10-21 will be for Spanish 2 at an A2 level. Chapters 11-30 would be appropriate for Spanish 3 for B1 level. In order to continue onto Spanish 2 after this class, students must have a 70% passing grade. I will be evaluating all students' progress with grading to know if they will be able to continue on into Spanish 2. Their grading will be based on class participation (including in-class and homework completion), section tests, Fall and Spring evaluations, and the overall final evaluation. I will make it as stress-free as possible as I know many students struggle with the testing aspects, and we will have review time of the subjects in class. Completing and reviewing the homework is very important for the students to do well in this class, so it is expected to be completed. The book is provided in the class fee and I will be purchasing them. The class fee will be lower for other semesters as the book is the reason for the higher cost for this first semester.
