"This class is designed as an exciting quest to build strong spelling skills from the ground up. Students will begin their journey by exploring long and short vowels while learning how to analyze words and break them into syllables. As they progress, they will discover prefixes, suffixes, and special sounds that don’t always follow typical spelling rules.
Throughout the course, students will practice analyzing words and applying their knowledge to develop our class spelling list.
In the second semester, we will review key concepts before advancing into a deeper study of prefixes, root words, and suffixes. Students will continue strengthening their skills as they prepare for a fun and engaging “spelling joust” at the end of the semester.
Confident spellers are built on a strong foundation, and this class is designed to provide just that for your child. Homework will be assigned regularly, but it will consist only of focused spelling practice activities designed to reinforce skills and fit easily into your family’s schedule and no more than 3 times per week."
